Safety Tips for Female Fans in
the Music Industry
Going to be meeting a new client or business associate for the first time?
Play it safe!
1. Never agree to meet in someone's home for your first meeting (or until you feel comfortable
doing so) Instead, pick a neutral, well-populated location.
2. Get the person's full name and day and evening
phone number, email, and any other pertinent information and leave it with someone you trust. Tell that person where and when
you plan to meet.
3. If you feel uncomfortable going it alone, bring someone along and call them your business
associate, assistant, whatever you want.
4. Call your friend when you get home safely so they know everything
was OK.
5. If you like, set up a time for your friend to call you on your cell, as a check in. Have
a code word if things are going well, and if they aren't. If they aren't this will give you an exit excuse.
6.
Be prepared with an exit strategy and an alternate.
7. Mention your significant other in the casual part
of the conversation. This sends a signal that you are accounted for.
8. When you set up your meetings, try to
get the person to confirm via email. This is a good tracking option in case anything weird occurs.
Dangerous situations
are not the norm, but they are possible and it's imperative for your safety to come first and foremost!
